예수님이 영웅이다 (The Ture Hero)-영어/한글
Political polarization has become a serious problem in South Korea and the world, raising concerns about the future of democracy. The principle of democratic politics is to negotiate and compromise, but when people consider only their side good and the other side evil, compromise and negotiation are impossible, and democracy loses ground.
Many experts have offered reasons for this polarization. I’d like to add one of my own.
I believe human beings have an innate desire to worship a hero. I think this is the reason people go wild about sports stars and entertainers.
Cult leaders, dictators, and political agitators know how to exploit this desire. They create a fake image of a hero of themselves, and people follow blindly and wholeheartedly devote themselves to these fake heroes. They consider those who criticize their heroes as enemies, and polarization starts and grows.
I think that God purposely planted in us this desire for a hero because He wanted people to long for a true hero, Jesus Christ. Because of this innate part of the human soul, I believe that people will follow Jesus if Christians convince them through their words and actions that Jesus is the true hero they long for.

우리 나라를 비롯한 민주 국가에 세계적으로 정치적 양극화가 심화되고 있습니다. 민주주의의 장래가 우려 될 정도입니다. 민주 정치는 의견이 다른 사람들이 서로 양보하고 타협하여 해결책을 찾는 시스템인데, 자신들은 절대선이고, 상대방은 절대악이라고 생각하면, 양보나 타협은 불가능하고, 민주주의는 유지되기 어렵습니다.
양극화 현상이 생기는 이유에 관해 많은 의견이 있지만, 약간 다른 관점에서 의견 하나를 더 보탭니다.
양극화는 인간의 마음속에 잠재한 영웅에 대한 갈구 때문이라고 생각합니다. 인간은 열광할 수 있는 영웅에 대한 욕구가 있다고 생각합니다. 진정한 영웅이 아니라면 가짜 영웅을 만들어서라도 열광해야 합니다. 인기 운동 선수나 스포츠 팀, 연예인들에게 열광하는 것이 이러한 욕구의 발로가 아닌가 생각합니다.
이러한 욕구를 악용하는 것이 이단 교주, 독재자, 정치 선동가들입니다. 이들은 고도의 기술을 발휘하여 자신을 영웅으로 만듭니다. 이러한 가짜 영웅에 미혹된 추종자들은 맹목적인 지지를 보이고, 비판하는 사람들을 적대시 하고, 공격합니다. 이러한 선동가가 정치판에 나타날 때 정치 양극화가 생깁니다.
왜 하나님께서 인간에게 영웅에 대한 갈망을 심어 주셨을까? 장차 오실 그리스도를 위해서라고 생각합니다. 장차 오실 메시아를 동경하며, 기다리도록 하기 위함입니다. 저를 비롯하여 많은 크리스천들이 예수님을 만났을 때, “내가 진정으로 따르며, 목숨을 바칠 수 있는 분을 드디어 만났구나!”라는 느낌이 드는 이유가 여기에 있다고 생각합니다.
인간의 마음 깊숙한 곳에 이러한 영웅에 대한 갈망이 있기 때문에, 예수님이 진정한 영웅이라는 것을 크리스천들이 말과 삶을 통해 보여준다면, 오늘날에도 전도는 충분히 가능하다고 생각합니다.
