비성경적으로 변질되는 이유 (Straying From the Bible)-영어/한글
Some pastors pride themselves on belonging to “Biblical” denominations, but sometimes their denominational practices are unbiblical. Why is this the case?
I believe that a big reason is that leaders neglect to return to the Bible to examine their practices in view of Scripture.
In this respect, they could learn much from scientists.
Scientists observe natural phenomena, then come up with theories to explain them. They then go back to nature to validate if this theory correctly explains their observations. If they find something contradicts the theory, they modify it. Then they observe again. This process is repeated until the theory accurately explains, without exception, the natural phenomenon they have experienced. At that point, this theory becomes law. The laws of universal gravitation and the first, second, and third laws of thermodynamics were established in this way.
Like scientists, we Christian leaders should repeatedly return to the Bible to confirm that our thoughts, actions, and practices are consistent with the teachings of the Bible.
Theologies and traditions are valuable, but they are just theories and not actual truth. Scripture is our only truth. Therefore leaders must continuously examine their actions and practices in view of the Bible. If some are practicing methods that are out of step with God s word, leaders must rectify the situation. If some Biblical truths are being neglected, they must implement them.
Unless we consistently apply this practice, we may not even realize a gap has been created and consequently widened between what the Bible teaches and what kinds of things we implement. Then church members may begin to live like unbelievers, churches would become like country clubs, and denominations would behave like big corporations.
For the House Church, the word “biblical” does not just mean that the house church principles are based on the Bible. It means that we take the Bible as the only authority for our actions and practices. It means that we constantly correct and implement our actions and practices using Scripture as our only guide. This is the only reason the house church can be called biblical.

성경적이라고 자부하는 교단 안에서, 비성경적인 관행이 자행되는 것을 종종 봅니다. 왜 그럴까요? 교단 리더들이 자신들의 사고와, 삶과, 관행을 성경에 비추어 재점검하는 것을 소홀히 했기 때문이라고 생각합니다.
이런 면은 과학자들에게서 배워야 합니다.
과학자들은 자연현상을 관찰하여, 이론을 만들어냅니다. 그리고는 이 이론을 갖고 자연으로 돌아가서 이론에 어긋나는 현상이 없는지 확인합니다. 어긋나는 현상이 발견되면 이론을 수정합니다. 수정된 이론을 갖고 다시 자연 현상을 관찰합니다. 어긋나는 현상이 있으면 다시 이론을 수정합니다.
이 과정을 반복해서 그 이론이 모든 자연 현상을 설명할 수 있게 되었을 때 이 이론(theory)은 법칙(law)이 됩니다. 만유인력의 법칙, 제 1, 2, 3열역학 법칙이 이런 과정을 통해 생겨났습니다.
신학자들의 신학이나, 교단의 전통이나, 교회의 관행은 모두 성경을 기초로 해서 만들어졌습니다. 그러나 이런 것들은 이론이지, 절대 진리는 아닙니다. 성경 말씀만이 진리입니다. 그러므로 이것들이 성경에 부합하는지 안 하는지, 끊임없이, 반복적으로, 성경에 비추어 검토해야합니다. 그리고, 성경에 어긋나거나, 미흡한 것이 발견되면 수정, 보완해서 성경적으로 바로잡아야 합니다.
신학, 전통, 관행을 절대 진리처럼 취급하기 시작할 때, 성경과 현실 간의 괴리가 시작됩니다. 교인들은 세상 사람들과 똑같은 삶을 살면서 다르게 산다고 착각합니다. 교회는 컨트리 클럽처럼 되었지만 깨닫지 못합니다. 교단이 정치 집단이 되어 가지만 의식을 못합니다.
가정교회는 ‘성경대로’를 모토로 삼습니다. 이 의미는, 가정교회 원칙을 성경에서 찾았을 뿐 아니라, 가정교회 원칙을 끊임없이 성경에 비추어 재검토 하겠다는 것입니다. 성경에 비추어 잘못된 것이 발견되면 바로잡고, 놓친 것이 보이면 보완하겠다는 것입니다.
이런 마음 자세를 잊지 않고 견지할 때 가정교회가 성경에서 멀어지는 것을 방지할 수 있을 것이라고 믿습니다.
