💗A Brief Message on the Calling of God (3)💗 (영문/한글)
For extreme example, there is a question: “Whether or not can the believer who suicided be saved?” But this question must be a nonsense in the light of the Bible. Because the ground of salvation in the right solution of this question does not depend upon “an external work” such as the suicide but upon “the regeneration” to be the son of God that is born of a new man by the inner calling of the Holy Spirit. And if so, it is possible to question as follow: “Can be saved the suicide?” But the Bible says nothing to this question, because it has deviated from the key point of this question. Because the very sufficient condition of the salvation does not depend upon “the suicide” according to human work but upon “the regeneration” in the Holy Spirit( John 3:3-5).
If the believer’s faith be around the level of suicide, of course, we could raise the important question: “Should not his spiritual state be very serious?” But the Bible does declare that the salvation must depend upon the regeneration alone without any other affirmation. Because the Lord Jesus Christ said “The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it but cannot tell where if comes from and it goes So is everyone who is born of the Spirit”(John 3:8). Just because his work is part of the proof of salvation(Jam. 2:21) it cannot be the perfect proof of the regeneration for salvation. Therefore, even though it can be said that the salvation is accomplished by the work in the inductive method, it can be accomplished by the regeneration in the deductive method.
If it is possible, what level of the fruit by the works do we have to bear the fruits? How many percents should we bear the fruits for the salvation? In other words, there is no one in the world that can answer to this question: “What points do we have to win for the purpose of the salvation without failure?” Because the perfect completion of sanctification by the Holy Spirit can be accomplished after death but not to be possible due to the flesh in this world. Therefore, the Bible says “For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.”(Gal. 5:17). It means that the progressing sanctification in this world is in the process, while the justification by faith, or the regeneration is only once (John 3:3-10; Luke 23:43).
This regeneration is once an ontological change born again. As Nicodemus asked, it is not a second time into their mother’s womb to be born, but it means that which is born of the Spirit the once(John 3:4-6). The man born again, therefore, does not belong to the flesh but to the spirit. But the sanctification means the spiritual, personal change(growth) of the man born again. Therefore, our salvation is not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit(Titus 3:5).
These regeneration and sanctification have an undetachable connection each other. Explaining this relationship in the analogue, it seems to be separated that the sanctification of the soul should be accomplished after death through the process of temporary sanctification, and the glorification of the body should be completed after the resurrection, whose body could be unified between soul and flesh(Rom. 8:29-30). But in the digital, the regeneration means “the completed salvation” to be accomplished once through the redemption once of the Lord, while the sanctification means the “reserved salvation” in the dimension of the covenant of completion through the merit of the Lord Jesus Christ. The two seems to be one. Although it goes into the eyes of the people who see in the analogue alone as if the regeneration and the justification are separated, the two is seen the connected one to the people who have the spiritual and stereoscopic eyes of the digital.

극단적인 예를 들어, 자살한 신자가 구원을 받느냐? 못 받느냐? 라는 질문은 성경적으로 볼 때에 난센스(nonsense)의 질문이다. 왜냐하면 이 질문에 대한 해답으로 구원의 근거가 “자살”(suicide)이라는 인간의 “외적 행위”에 달린 것이 아니라, 성령의 내적 부르심을 통하여 새 사람인 “하나님의 아들”(the son of God)이 되는 것으로, 거듭나는(born again) “중생”(regeneration)에 달려있기 때문이다. 그렇다면 자살한 사람도 구원받을 수 있느냐? 라고 질문하게 될 것이다. 그러나 이 질문에 대한 답변에 성경은 침묵한다. 질문의 핵심에서 빗나갔기 때문이다. 구원의 중심조건이 “자살”(the suicide according to human work)에 있는 것이 아니라, “중생”(the regeneration by the Holy Spirit)에 있기 때문이다(요 3:3-5).
물론 자살할 정도의 신자라면 그의 영적 상태가 심각하지 않겠는가? 라는 질문을 던져 볼 수는 있을 것이다. 그러나 성경은 이에 대하여 단언하지 않고 다만 중생에 있다고만 단언한다. 왜냐 하면, 주님의 말씀대로 중생 즉 성령으로 거듭난 사람은 “바람이 임의로 불매 그 소리를 들어도 어디서 오며 어디로 가는지 알지 못하는 것과 같이 성령으로 난 사람은 이와 같다”고 하셨기 때문이다(요 3:8). 그의 행위가 일말의 증거는 될 수 있을는지는 몰라도(약 2:21) 중생에 대하여 확실히 완벽한 증거가 되는 것은 아니기 때문이다. 그러므로 구원은 연역적으로 중생에 의해서만 가능하다고 확신 있는 단언을 할 수는 있지만, 귀납적으로 행위를 통한 구원이 확실하다고 단언할 수는 없는 것이다.
만일, 그것이 가능하다면, 구원을 위해 어느 정도의 행위의 열매를 맺어야 하는가? 몇 퍼센트의 열매를 맺어야 구원이 가능한가? 다른 말로 몇 점을 받아야 탈락하지 않고 구원을 받을 수 있는가? 라는 질문에 대답할 수 있는 사람은 세상에 없을 것이다. 왜냐하면, 성령의 거룩의 완전한 성화(sanctification)는 육체를 가지고 있는 한, 이 세상에서는 불가능하며 죽은 후에나 완성되는 것이기 때문이다. 그러므로 성경은 “육체의 소욕은 성령을 거스리고 성령의 소욕은 육체를 거스리나니 이 둘이 서로 대적함으로 너희의 원하는 것을 하지 못하게 하려 함이니라”(갈 5:17) 라고 말씀한다. 이것은 믿음을 통한 칭의(justification)나 중생(regeneration)이 단회적인 반면에(요 3:3-10); 눅 23:43), 이 세상에서 진행되는 성화(sanctification)는 하나의 과정(process)이라는 것을 의미한다.
이 중생은 거듭나는 존재론적 변화로 단회적인 것이다. 니고데모가 말한 것과 같이, 두 번째 모태에 들어갔다 나는 육으로 나는 것이 아니라, 단번에 거듭나는 영으로 나는 것을 의미한다(요 3:4-6). 그러므로 중생한 사람은 육에 속한 사람이 아니라 영에 속한 사람이다. 그러나 성화는 죽을 때까지 진행되는 중생한 사람의 영적, 인격적 변화(성장)을 의미한다. 그러므로 구원은 우리가 행한 바 의로운 행위에 있는 것이 아니라, 오직 하나님의 긍휼하심을 따라 중생의 씻음과 성령의 새롭게 하심에 있는 것이다(딛 3:5).
이 중생과 성화는 불가분의 관계를 가지고 있는 것으로, 아날로그(analogue) 방식으로 설명하자면, 칭의와 중생 후에 성화의 과정을 거쳐 죽은 후에야 영적 성화가 완성되며, 부활한 후에야 영육 간의 영화로운 몸으로 완성되는 것(롬 8:29-30)으로 이 둘은 분리된 것으로 보이지만, 그러나 디지털(digital) 방식으로 설명하자면, 중생은 주님의 단번의 속죄로 말미암아 단번에 완성되는 “완성된 구원”을 의미하며, 성화는 주님의 십자가의 공로로 인한 하나님의 언약의 차원에서 완성이 “예약된 구원”을 의미하는 것으로 영적으로 보면 둘은 하나로 보인다는 뜻이다. 이것들은 아날로그 방식으로만 볼 수 있는 사람들에게는 중생과 성화가 따로 떨어져 있는 것으로 보이나, 디지털 방식의 영적인 입체적 안목이 있는 사람들에게는 연결된 하나로 눈에 들어오게 된다. 💗💗💗
