II. Theological Background of Church Division (01)
(1) The Signs of Church Division (1)
It would be concluded that Korean Church division began to
show a sign as soon as the theological thought of Liberalism
emerged.
1) Situation in a Transition Period
Considering the principles of the theological education decided
by the missionaries of Northern Presbyterian Church in the
United States of America in 1896, the pure Puritan faith and
theological thought which is going to deliver Korean people
from sin and death has been succeeded to the Korean Church.
At that time Pastor Sun Joo Kil who was the typical person of
Korean theologian was very conservative in his theological
thought whose thought was the fundamentalism to have the
doctrine of heaven, hell, original sin, and verbal inspiration of
the Bible as the basis of theology, and this theological thought
has influenced the Korean Church for a long time.
So whenever conservative theology had controlled Korean
Church there had no separation of the church, and always had
grown up very fast. But the sectional antagonism between
South and North making up implicity about the establishment
of Yon Hee College in Seoul in 1911 had strangely developed
toward the difficult theological opposition between the
Conservatives and Liberalists, and furthermore the New
Theological thought bean to be emerged through the
theologians who had returned to the home land after studying
the Liberal education and theology in Japan and Western
countries ar about the time of the Seventh year.

II. 교회분열의 신학적 배경 (01)
(1) 한국교회의 분열은 자유주의 신학사상의 대두로 그 기미가 보
이기 시작했다고 보아야 할 것이다.
1) 과도기적 상황
1896년 미국 북 장로교 선교사들에 의하여 결정된 신학교육의 원
칙을 살펴보면, 한민족을 죄와 사망에서 구원하려는 순수한 청교
도적인 신앙과 신학사상이 한국교회에 그대로 계승되었다.
그 당시 한국인 신학자의 대변자라고 할 수 있는 길선주 목사의
신학사상 역시 천국, 지옥, 원죄와 성경의 축자영감설의 교리를
골자로 하는 전형적인 근본주의 신학이었고 오래 동안 이 신학사
상이 한국교회를 지배하고 있었다.
이렇게 보수주의 신학이 지배할 때는 교회에 분열이 없었으며 항
시 부흥발전에로 치솟고 있었다. 그러나 1911년 서울 연희전문학
교 설립문제를 둘러싸고 암암리에 조성돼 있던 남북 간의 지방적
대립이 묘하게도 보수와 진보의 상위한 신학적 대립으로 발전돼
가고 있었으며 더구나 희년을 전후로 하여 일본과 구미(구라파와
미국)에서 자유주의 교육 내지 자유주의 신학을 연구하고 돌아온
사람들에 의하여 신 신학 사상이 대두되기 시작하였다. ⛪️⛪️⛪️
