2. The Cause of the Church Division (01)
Whoever studied church history will sympathize that church
used to be separated because of local, political, and theological
factors. These three factors should be related to each other, and
one of them used to be often embossed with the factor of
church division. Of these three factors, I think, theological one is
very significant and very important.
The conservatives think that the church division may be mainly
caused by theological factor, but the liberalists have acorn for
them to be only the self-opinionated. Il Seop Shin, a pastor
emphasized that the most important cause of Korean church
division had been theological factor too in his essay “An
Introduction to the Formative history of Korean Church.”
But Kyeong Bae Min, the professor of Yon Se University argued
against the advocates of theological factor. He took a serious
view of non-theological factor and applied the principle of
existential theology to his theory.
Pastor Sun Hee Kwak had argued that the cause of church
division should be sheer human but not only biblical or
religious, and such factors were nothing but the cause which
was going to excuse their obstinacy for the church division.

2. 교회분열의 원인 (01)
교회는 지방적, 정치적, 그리고 신학적 요인에 따라서 분리된다는
것에 누구나 공감할 것이다. 이 세 가지 요인은 상호 분리될 수 없
는 연관성을 가지고 있으며, 상황에 따라 그 중의 하나가 교회분
리의 요인으로 부각되는 것이다. 이 세 가지 교회분열의 요인들
중 가장 중요하고 심각한 것은 신학적 요인이다.
보수주의자들은 주로 신학적인 요인에 있다고 생각하나, 자유주
의자들은 이것을 하나의 자기 고집을 지키기 위한 구실이라고 경
멸한다. 심일섭 목사는 그의 “한국 신학의 형성사 서설”이란 논문
에서 한국교회 분열의 원인 중 역시 신학적인 원인을 가장 중요
한 요인으로 강조했다.
그러나 민경배 교수는 비신학적 요소를 중시하고 실존주의 신학
원리를 적용하여 교회분열의 신학적 원인을 주장하는 사람들을
통박했다.
곽선희 목사 역시 교회분열의 원일은 순전히 인간적이요 성서적
인 것도 신앙적인 것도 아니며 교리적인 신앙적인 이유들은 분열
의 자기 고집을 고수하며 변명하려는 구실에 불과 하다고 했다.
