💗THE SALVATION OF THE PEOPLE: by FAITH or by WORKS?💗(¿µ¹®)

1. Two Aspects of Salvation in the Bible

(1) The inheritance by faith (Justification) (Gen. 15:1, 6; Col. 3:24)
¡°Knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the
inheritance for you serve the Lord Christ.¡±(Col. 3:24).

(2) The rewards by works (Sanctification) (1 Cor. 3:15; Dan. 12:3;
Rev. 21:26; Matt. 5:19; Matt. 10:40-42)
¡°If anyone¡¯s work which he has built on it endures he will
receive a reward (1 Cor. 3:15).

2. Systematic Theological References
(1) Salvation: Based on the only sovereign GRACE of Triune God
(Eph. 2:8; Acts 15:11; Rom. 3:24; Gal. 3:18; Eph. 2:5).

(2) Starting point: must start from the faith in Jesus Christ.
(Justification) (John 3:16; Acts 16:31)

(3) Resulting in: must bear the fruits(outcomes) of the Holy Spirit.
(Sanctification) (Gal. 5:22; Rom. 6:22)

[CON] Justification must go hand in hand with Sanctification.
(Integration) (Jam. 2:22)
¡°Faith was working together with his works and by works
faith was made perfect¡±(Jam. 2:22), Justification is cause,
but sanctification effect. Therefore, even if someone CAN
SAY only that we can saved through faith, but not works. In
other words, someone CANNOT SAY that we can be saved
through works. Sanctification is a process to be sanctified.

3. Exegetic Theological References
(1) Ontological approach (starting point: FAITH) (Rom. 3:28)
Bible says that people have saved by faith alone. For we
maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of
the Law (Rom. 3:28). For the promise that he would be the heir
of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the
law but through the righteousness of faith (Rom. 4:13).

(2) Structural approach (starting point: WORK) (Matt. 25:31-46)
The Bible, sometimes, approaches ontologically(faith), and
sometimes structurally(works). The text Matt. 25:31-46 is
applicable to the latter. Nevertheless, the KEY to salvation is
the GRACE of Triune God. Faith alone is the means of
salvation, and works is the effect(fruit) of faith. In this case,
faith and works are inseparably related each other.

4. Biblical References in the Passages
(1) TEXT: Matt. 25:31-46

(2) The righteousness of the law through the deeds: Rom. 3:20
(the goats)

(3) The righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ: Rom.
3:21 (the sheep)

(4) The feelings and works of love, mercy, and generosity (Matt,
5:7, 43-48; 8:17; 9:36; 11:28-30; 12:7, 20, 21; 14:16, 34-36;
15:32; 18:1-6, 22, 35; 19:13; 20:28; 22:9, 37-39; 23:37; in
particular, 1 John 4:7-21; 5:1-3)

(5) The truth and the Holy Spirit: Rom. 8:1-39; Gal. 3: 5:)

(6) Other (1): Matt. 7:21-23 (In spite of their works, they have
perished)
Jesus is saying is. ¡°In your daily life and conduct, in what are
often called ¡®the little things of life,¡¯ you have furnished proof
that you are my true disciples. Therefore I call you blessed.¡±
This shows that in the kingdom of heaven there is room,
plenty of room, for people who have not in the technical sense
prophesied in Christ¡¯s name, have not cast out demons, and
have not done ¡°many mighty works¡± in his name. In fact, for
those who boast about such ¡°great accomplishment¡± there is
no room (Matt. 7:22, 23).

(7) Other (2): Rom. 8:1-39; 1 John 5:18
¡°There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in
Christ Jesus who do not walk according to the flesh but
according to the Spirit(Rom. 8:1), therefore, the law of the
Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of
sin and death(8:2).

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear but
you received the Spirit of adoption by whom, we cry out Abba
Father(8:15). For I am persuaded that neither death nor life nor
angels nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor
things to come nor height nor depth nor any other created
thing shall be able to separable us from the love of God which
is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rome. 8:38-39). 💗💗💗
