The second schism of the Presbyterian Church in Korea was
the division between the Presbyterian Church in Korea and the
Presbyterian in the Republic of Korea (PROK). After the Pyong
Yang Theological Seminary which was the stronghold of
conservative theology had been divided into two areas, sough
and north due to 38th parallel, the churches in South Korea
became of Dr. Jae Joon Kim’s field to himself and then the l
liberal theology began to swagger out. Moreover the liberal
theology had been arousing its enthusiasm at the moment
when Dr. John A. Macky and Dr. E. Brunner came to Korea on
October 22, 1949.
The 36th General Assembly of Presbyterian Church held at the
Dae Gu Jeil Church on April 21, 1950 could not solved the
administration of the Presbyterian Theological Seminary and
the Cho Sun Theological Seminary and suspended the
conference because of confusing during the Assembly session.
Thereafter the assembly resumed its session at the Busan
Choong Ang Church on May 26, 1951. At this time anyone
could feel the division between the liberalism and
conservative in church.
The Assembly canceled the theological seminary to be under
the direct management of the General Assembly of
Presbyterian Church, and then decided to establish a new
General Assembly Theological Seminary. And so, the
Theological Seminary opened in cooperation with missionary
E. L. Campell, professor Park, Hyong Yong, Myong, Shin Hong,
S. Y. Kwon, Kim, Chi Sun and Han, Kyong Jik in Tae Gu on
September 18, 1951. But the Cho Sun Theological Seminary
went on its own way.

한국 장로교회의 두 번째 분열은 대한기독교장로회의 창설로
된 것이다 보수주의 신학의 보루였던 평양신학교가 38선의 분
단으로 분리되자 남한 교회는 김재준 교수 일인의 독무대가 되
어 자유주의 신학이 활개 치기 시작하였으며 더구나 1949년 10
월 22일 존 이 매카이(John E. Macky) 박사와 에밀 브른너 박
사(Dr. Emil Brunner)의 내한을 계기로 자유주의 신학사상이 기
세를 올리고 있었던 것이다.
1950년 4월 21일 대구제일교회에서 열린 제36회 총회에서 장
로회신학교와 조선신학교의 양 신학교에 대한 총회직영 문제
를 둘러싸고 총회는 이 문제를 직접적으로 해결하지 못한 채 혼
란이 일어나 부득불 정회하기에 이르렀다. 1951년 5월 26일 부
산중앙교회에서 제36회 총회가 속개되었는데 이때는 벌써 보
수주의 세력과 자유주의 세력 간의 분열을 누구나 피부로 느낄
수 있었을 만큼 뚜렷해졌다.
총회는 양 신학교의 총회 직영을 취소하고 총회신학교를 따로
설립하자는 안을 가결하여 1951년 9월 18일 대구에서 감부열
(E. L. Campell) 선교사와 교수 박형룡, 명신홍, 권세열, 김치선,
한경직 제씨를 모시고 개교했으나 조선신학교는 끝내 독자적
인 노선을 취하였다. ⛪️⛪️⛪️
