What is Faith? ✝✝✝
The FAITH giving salvation is the only Gift of God(Eph. 2:8b). It is not the cause(gal) of salvation but the means(dia) of that(Eph. 2:8). It is not the cause of salvation but only its means, which must be considered in two dimensions, that is, archetype and ectype. That is given only once(single), this more than once(multiple). In other words, that is saving(regenerating or born again: Justification) faith, this ministering(sanctifying and empowering: Sanctification) faith. Of course, all these are the faith in Christ Jesus(2Tim. 3:15; 1Tim. 1:14).
And these two altogether cannot be divided or separated. Nevertheless, there are two kinds of gifts, one is the gift of Salutis, the other gifts of Charismata. By the way, actually there must be the people who do not be saved in spite of their Charisata from God(Matt 7:22~23). This dual faith makes the believers be confused who have no knowledge of the Bible or theology. We always have to interpret the Bible, the Word of God in these two dimensions. If not so, we are apt to make mistake in understanding the Bible. ✝✝✝.. |
