TIME MANAGEMENT (12) (Overview of Time: The Choleric Culture) (04)
ÀåºÎ¿µ  2009-08-23 00:58:47, Á¶È¸ : 2,043

(4) Putting Time Tools to Work

1) In spite of reactionary cries of \"you are bringing the world into the church,\" the wave of evangelical business expertise has taken the day.

2) Time management and goal setting have proved useful not only in eliminating sloppy organization in Christian enterprise, but also in redirecting the church's attention toward the future.

3) Karen Mains keeps a true biblical perspective, distinguishing between \"hospitality\" (Rome 12:13) wit its concern for service and \"entertaining\" with its inherent interest in impressing others.

4) Karen Mains also affirms the importance of using time-management tools. She found himself, that she cannot write about hospitality and be hospitable at the same time.

5) Priority, goals, planning--the tools of time-management--are powerful forces for the church's future if they are subjected to the goals of the kingdom of God.

6) Nevertheless we still wonder: are the goals of the kingdom still insight? Could it be that the church's view of the future does not come from the biblical concept of \"thy kingdom come,\" but rather from a triumphalistic cultural bias dominated by a future-oriented world view?

7) Many Christian writers have, unfortunately, accepted these tools uncritically. What good is if for people to control their time and their lives, yet forfeit their soul?

8) Many writers \"have pick up the management tools of the world and dropped them into the church setting without passing them through a 'biblical filter.\" There may indeed be need for more than blind acceptance of even the best of time-management tools.
