7. continuity of the kingdom :
Did the kingdom mend with Jesus' death? Or did Jesus change his message, postponing the coming of the kingdom because of the unbelief of his hearers? Never.
(1) the kingdom equates with doing the will of God submission to God as King
(2) the kingdom continued to be an important theme in the teaching of the early church (Acts 8:12; 20:25; 28:23, 31; Col. 1:13; 1 Thess. 2:12; James 2:5).
8. the kingdom of God will be realized in the future (Matt. 6:10)
9. men are to seek it, even strive for it (Matt. 6:33; Lk. 13:24), and that sacrifice is worthwhile in order to gain it (Matt. 13:44-46; Mk. 9:47).
10. but men by their own efforts will never build the kingdom.
11. It is a gift from God, to be completed in his time (Matt. 25:34; Mk. 10:15; Lk. 12:32: 19:11)

(4) The Significance of the Kingdom for Time
1. The kingdom of God is the biblical image of God's rule most closely linked with the time of fulfillment (kairos).
2. The Old Testament writers, Jesus and the apostles all announced it present reality and imminent completion.
3. The appeal of Maxism is for the values of the kingdom--but without God. It is a counterfeit kingdom, but one closer to the biblical vision of the future than the capitalist dream.
