3. Adaptive Decision Making: Managing by Exception
Step 1: Problem
(1) This exercise will help you manage by exception.
(2) We will work on matters that a critical to you, and leave off matters that are not.
(3) Lets strategize and prioritize.
(4) Begin by typing in you problem.
(5) Additional Adaptive Techniques to Problem Solving.
(6) Managing by exception
(7) Work on those matters that are critical to you, and leave matters to others that are not. Strategizing and prioritizing
Example: You tutor a child in math. You become aware that the family situation is troubled, but you haven't the skills to help. You inform the case manager for their action, but continue to focus on the supporting the child with his/her homework
Step 2: Lists
Now, write down eight aspects of your problem.
Step 3: Prioritize
Prioritizing is ranking the importance of each. Type a number in the square box from (1) most important to (8) last important. Each box should have a different from 1 through 8!

Step 4: Eliminate
(1) Now eliminate your four least important aspects to your problem.
(2) Concentrate on aspects that are most important.
